I find that it’s largely people who are not oppressed because of their gender/sexual orientation/race that claim that social issues are not significant issues. It drives me up the fucking wall.

Wake up. It affects every single one of us. And even if…

saathi1013:

So I’m not going to wade into the appalling horribleness that consists of radfem scum bashing trans* folk, because I do not have the spoons right now.

But I’ll throw this out:

- if you do not respect someone’s stated identity, whether it is gender, sexual, or other;

- if you…

^ This. Seriously. I have rules about basic requirements for being a decent human being who gets to occupy space in my life, head, et al.

1. Wheaton’s Law

2. See rule number one. This includes applying Wheaton’s Law to everyone.

3. *deep breath* I. Don’t. Care. About. Your. Personal. Beliefs. Or. Religion. Or. WHATEVER BULLSHIT your inner moppet is spouting about someone’s race, gender, sexuality, age, size, class, abled or disabled, sex worker, kink, WHATEVER.

I just don’t care. Whatever exists in your head, is your problem. If you bring it to space I occupy, you’ve made it my problem and I will seriously destroy any bullshit argument you make for oppressing another human being, shaming another human being, or marginalizing them.

No, I REALLY DEEPLY AND SINCERELY DON’T CARE if you are personally part of any other axis of oppression. Radfem bullshit prescriptivist theory, shaming and trans-oppression is pretty much guaranteed to get my knickers in a twist and make me HULK SMASH.

Being hateful is being hateful. Cruelty is cruelty. Being a patriarchical, hierarchical, kyriearchical, privileged twit, isn’t something that changes just because you’ve got a vagina and call yourself a feminist.

I have rules. They’re very, very simple: Wheaton’s Law.

you know what would be gr8

if we didnt shame women for working in the sex industry

if we didnt shame women for posing nude

if we didnt shame women for having sex

if we didnt shame women for getting plastic surgery

if we didnt shame women for deciding not to shave

if we didnt shame women for speaking up about what bothers them

if we didnt shame women for getting abortions

if we didnt shame women for

you know

having control over their own lives

As we have so recently and publicly discussed, girls and women have “anger issues” in that they are socialized to not demonstrate anger, but instead to sublimate it where it can sometimes then manifest itself as anxiety or depression. Girls are not born less angry and more anxious, they’re rewarded for being less angry and more anxious. So, it should come as no surprise to anyone that large groups of stressed out girls and women collectively facing the dissolution of a cohesive social structure might be more disposed to fall prey to mass psychosis. It is arguable that men and boys experience similarly jarring episodes of anger and anxiety-channelling mass psychosis, but we call it male aggression and fund military industrial complexes to deal with it.

I just keep seeing this as young!Sherlock. Like THIS is the man Lestrade first met, high as a kite, smiling, more aggressive, more emotional. He likes the new Sherlock, the one he sees with John. Sherlock had shut down without the drugs- but with John, it’s all the emotion, the joy… but now it’s REAL, without the desperation it had before.

Rush Limbaugh has a freedom of speech and can say what he wants, but in light of his horribly misogynistic comments, American Forces Radio should no longer give him a platform. Our entire military depends on troops respecting each other – women and men. There simply can be no place on military airwaves for sentiments that would undermine that respect. When many of our female troops use birth control, for Limbaugh to say they are “sluts” and “prostitutes” is beyond the pale. It isn’t just disrespectful to our women serving our country, but it’s language that goes against everything that makes our military work. Again, we swore to uphold our Constitution, including the freedom of speech, and would not take that away from anyone – even Limbaugh. But that does not mean AFN should broadcast him. In fact, it shouldn’t.

-

A group of female veterans have released a statement today through Vote Vets (a progressive coalition of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans) calling for AFN to drop Rush Limbaugh’s show in light of his repulsive statements about Sandra Fluke and women using contraception. AFN is owned and operated by the Pentagon, and according to spokesman George Little, currently has no intention of dropping Limbaugh.
